Last year was the first year Livingston County hosted a “Walk For Freedom” in partnership with the A21 Campaign (Abolishing Injustice in the 21st Century). With 100 walkers silently protesting in downtown Brighton, Michigan we were able to raise $2,015 for the year 2015. This year we would love to see our walking numbers double, even triple! :)
Help us get the word out to your friends, families, and neighbors. Human trafficking, the illegal movement of people for the purposes of forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation, is not something that happens only in other, less developed countries. Human trafficking happens right here in our own backyard. Right here in Michigan. In fact, Michigan is the second most common state in all of the U.S. for human trafficking.
October 15th at 10am, we will be meeting at the Brighton Millpond to start our walk. For more details on how you can make a difference, please join our Facebook event page to stay updated and register to walk on our website. There is no registration fee. All you’re required to do is SHOW UP & WEAR ALL BLACK.If you would like to purchase an A21 “Walk For Freedom” T-shirt please visit: http://www.a21.org/content/shop/gksgl4
